An amazing weekend on The Island. If you thought Phillip Island was always wet and miserable, you weren’t there in 2011! Glorious weather made this one of the best MotoGPs we have

ever experienced!

We opened Thursday night with a great meal down in Cowes, where the good times were prolonged by a group committed to closing the local bar...  Not everyone made the Friday morning shuttle!

Friday was a spectacular day at the track - perfect for a circumnavigation of the most scenic circuit in MotoGP! We bumped into quite a few customers en route - this truly is the pilgrimage destination!

Friday night we were proud to launch our new Australian operation. Our team of Richard & Susie are based permanently down under (Alice Springs and Perth respectively) and got to meet many of our customers. We were also pleased to launch our partnership with F1 specialists F1GrandPrixTours.com, based in Perth and South Africa. Johan from the company was on hand to tell us about their F1 tours and outline exciting back-to-back programmes with MotoGP and SBK events.

Speaking of South Africa - our featured guest of the night was the only South African in GP - Brad Binder. He had just graduated from the Red Bull Rookies and was lucky enough to get a permanent ride for the rest of the season in the 125cc GP. (He is full time in Moto3 in 2012).  We are proud sponsors and expect to see him go places. We
gave him a poster signed by all our customers present!

Saturday we went a bit wild in the VIP Village - with paddock access (as well as a few extra paddock passes we kicked in) customers were kept busy stalking Stoner, Vale and the rest! We met Australian MotoGP stand-in Damian Cudlin -- a really nice guy. Regrettably Saturday he was injured in the session, so of course he didn’t make it to the suite as planned.

Damian & our Aussie rep Susie

Saturday night we had a magical evening at the track being entertained by Aussie legend Wayne Gardner. He’s moving the Spain to help his son Remy in the Spanish championship - hope he can follow his dad’s footsteps!

Race day Sunday had some spectacu
lar results. Mark Marquez showed us why he will be a superhero in years to come - starting from the back of the grid to take an incredible podium finish (3rd). In the MotoGP race, Casey Stoner did the expected - but making it no less thrilling - winning the race & the world title, and all on his birthday in front of his home crowd! What a slam dunk! However for us the highlight was our main man Marco Simoncelli taking an incredible second place - his best MotoGP result ever. Despite Casey’s triumph, Marco almost stole the show on the podium.  With some of our most dedicated Marco fan customers, we invaded parke ferme to congratulate his team & his dad in person.

Sunday night we closed with an intimate dinner at the hotel -- that is once we tore the rugby fans from the TV!  Everyone agreed this was an immensely satisfying weekend!
